For some, it is a benevolent rescuer.
For others, a demonic invader.

If we cannot describe our own observing awareness without projecting onto it — calling it spirit, guide, alien, higher self — how would we describe something truly nonhuman?

The Phenomenon — whether understood through UFO research, anomalous aerial encounters, or consciousness studies — may not destabilise us technologically.

It may destabilise us perceptually.

The narrative is not the territory.

Often, it is not even a good map.

Spinning off my Chains of the Sea reflection.

Think about it —

Religions say:
You are created.
You are watched.
You matter cosmically.

Modern secular culture says:
You are progressing.
History is going somewhere.
Humanity is evolving toward something better.

Even science fiction often keeps us central.

Aliens come here.
They want us.
We’re the key species.
We’re special.

It’s the same structure wearing different clothes.

Humans at the centre.

This is why Chains of the Sea hits so hard.

It suggests — quietly, almost casually — that humans might not be central at all.

Not hated.
Not judged.

Just… not the point.

This can lead to existential dread.
BUT equally it can also lead to a sense of feeling lighter…

And I can see why certain people quietly point toward it without ever explaining why.

It’s an obscure book. Or was.
Until Lou Elizondo started referencing it.
He’s former CIA.
A big part of the UFO Disclosure movement.
So it can be considered signal.

And once you read Chains of the Sea,
you realise — this isn’t entertainment science fiction.
It’s destabilising. But in a strange way… stabilising too.

Not fatalistic.

And the surprising thing is it came out in the early 1970s.
Yet it could have been written today.

Shorter, darker.
Because there’s a version that doesn’t get aired.

There’s a moment in that video message from Jacques Vallée — the one recorded for the James Fox conference — that may matter more than people realise.

He describes the UFO phenomenon as:

“an extraterrestrial phenomenon empowered by advanced artificial intelligence.”

Not powered.
Empowered.

With disclosure, it’s not stalled because of fear of invasion.
But of what it will do to human identity.

It’s about layers.
Multiple intelligences.
Different orders of reality.

Humans not being central.
Not special.
Not consulted.
Not protected.

Contact happens around humans.
Not for them.

Former counter-intelligence officer Lou Elizondo
keeps referencing the book:

Chains of the Sea.

An early seventies science fiction book.

Why?

He wants humans to think about:

• Humans probably aren’t top of the food chain.

• Individuals may not matter much.

• There may be no overarching concern for us at all.

This transmission grew out of something small — a single line spoken by Jacques Vallée in a short video message recorded for a conference organised by filmmaker James Fox.

But it’s the kind of line that lingers.

Vallée describes the UFO phenomenon as:

“an extraterrestrial phenomenon empowered by advanced artificial intelligence.”

That phrasing is unusual for Vallée.
And if you’ve followed his work over the decades, you’ll know why.

This isn’t the language of casual speculation. It feels deliberate. Compressed. Carefully chosen.

In this episode I explore why that single sentence may be hinting at something much larger — and why certain sectors of intelligence and defence science may already have a working model of what’s going on, even if they’ll never say it outright.

I also bring in Luis Elizondo — who often presents as a regular, grounded guy, but very much isn’t — and his repeated references to the 1973 science-fiction novel Chains of the Sea.

That book isn’t name-checked by accident. It’s not idle talk. It’s a signal.

Together, these threads seem to be circling something that can’t be stated directly:
ideas adjacent to the Simulation Hypothesis, questions about non-human intelligence, and the unsettling possibility that humans may not be central — or even particularly important — in the wider structure of reality.

I also touch on why real disclosure, if it ever happened, wouldn’t simply shock people…
it would destabilise them.

Not because of aliens.
But because of what it would do to identity, meaning, and the idea that someone — or something — is watching over us.

This isn’t a conclusion.
It’s an observation from the edge of the map.

Nothing here is guaranteed.
Nothing is written in stone.

Thoughts on whether global conflict really erupts, or whether it remains a long, grinding psychological war — skirmishes, infrastructure hits, pressure without release.

Then a slip.

Cash in hand — £500, bought online in 2025 — suddenly feels like 1972, when pound notes still existed. A hired car. The Suffolk coast. Dunwich.

Fish and chips in the café. Formica tables. Tomato sauce or brown.
Sorted.

Dunwich hasn’t really changed.
