Neanderthals, vanished villages, strange encounters and an All Hallows Eve transmission from the Norfolk borderlands.
Some places change when you enter them.
Turn off the road near Mundford, follow the lane towards Lynford Water, and something happens to the atmosphere.
The everyday world seems to recede.
Welcome to GhostLand.
Around 60,000 years ago, Neanderthals occupied this landscape. Stone tools and mammoth remains were uncovered nearby.
These weren’t quite our ancestors in the conventional sense. They were another kind of human. Another branch of the family.
Their world is gone.
But there’s more to this country.
To the north-east, behind the boundaries of the military training lands, lie villages emptied during the Second World War. Elsewhere across the surrounding landscape are tales of wild men, UFOs and anomalous encounters.
Ancient humans. Abandoned settlements. Strange things in the woods.
And now, with Halloween approaching, I’m returning to explore the deeper currents of this place.
Not the commercial Halloween of costumes and plastic skeletons.
The old Ancestors’ Night.
The night when we remember the vanished worlds that came before us — and perhaps discover something of them still lurking within ourselves.
GHOSTLAND :: ALL HALLOWS EVE 2026
On October 31st, I’ll conduct a collective field working at Lynford. One wish or intention from each participant, brought together in a symbolic ritual experience.
It’s $37 to participate, with an atmospheric audio transmission following on November 1st.
A little old-world magic. A wishing well for the imagination.
The road ends. The old world begins.
