Somewhere outside Hatfield, in the Hertfordshire countryside, there is an airfield.
The grass is damp. The morning is still. Beyond the hangars, England stretches away into fields and little villages.
Captain Bigglesworth climbs into his aircraft.
The engine coughs into life.
The propeller turns.
And England begins to disappear.
I recorded this strange soundscape without any particular destination in mind. But listening back, I found myself transported into a vanished world.
Perhaps you’ll hear something entirely different.
That’s the idea behind GhostTracks.
These are sonic expeditions into imaginary landscapes, lost histories, forgotten futures and the peculiar territory where memory and imagination become indistinguishable.
They belong to GhostLand, an expanding collection of soundscapes and transmissions exploring the strange country between yesterday and tomorrow.
We are hurtling into a new aeon. The machines are awakening. The familiar world is slipping away.
But somewhere, Captain Bigglesworth is still preparing for takeoff.
Put on your headphones.
Close your eyes.
See where the sound takes you.
GHOSTTRACK 001 — The Last Flight from England
An original Doktor Snake soundscape.
Dream it at midnight. Ship by dawn.
