It's not Satanic! St Botolph's Church at Skidbrooke, near Louth, in Lincolnshire, has had a lot of vandalism, supposedly occult-related...
Any genuine Satanist, theist or atheist, is respectful of other people, not to mention heritage buildings and architecture...
St Botolph's church in the village of Skidbrooke is regularly vandalized by what the media call "satanists" breaking in to conduct animal sacrifices and alleged occult rituals. In truth you're looking at pasty-faced, drug and booze addled teenagers, not actual practitioners of the dark arts - as they would mostly be respectful of others, well-mannered, and wouldn't want to draw attention to themselves.
On top of this, the centuries-old Grade 1 listed church, near Louth in Lincolnshire, which has been left empty since the mid-70s, is said by local ghost hunters to be a "center for paranormal activity.
Over the years, local residents have reported seeing chicken carcasses with their throats slit, pentagrams sketched into stonework, while rings of candles and salt have been left inside the building. Churchyard gravestones have also been cracked.
All of which sounds pretty amateur to me - learned from inept death metal songs most likely.
A local farmer called Martin Chapman, who visited the church to clear up the mess left from "Friday night rituals", said he felt sick at the thought of what had been carried out.
Thing is, isn't "Friday night" a clue?
It's teens out of their heads doing this stuff for kicks, and know little of genuine Satanic practices, nor the literary heritage of Old Nick (John Milton's Paradise Lost and Lord Byron). Vandalism and animal cruelty, yes, but not seasoned occult practitioners.
And the fact is, if these teen vandals were confronted with the real deal when it comes to Satanism, they'd run a mile. Not least because they'd be confronted by both highly intelligent and well-do-do people who are part of the establishment and respect the social order, who likely (and humorously) would suggest to the vandals that they'd make nice sacrificial victims to be burned in a Wicker Man.
Obviously they have to explain that the Wicker Man was used in Celtic times for sacrifices... then they'd have to explain what "Celtic times" were, and probably teach the vandals how to read and write too... manners they'd probably never grasp.
So yes, probably best to put them in a Wicker Man and be done with it.
