In the old days, if you saw three birds on a telegraph pole, you’d think, “What’s happening here?” But you’d let it pass. Then you see a black cat staring at you, and you think, “This ain’t good.”

Then your luck seems to have flown. Money is down. You find your man (or woman) is cheating. Everything is going west.

“Man, I must be jinxed, somebody done gone laid a number on me.”

That’s the way it was…

But there was always a remedy. You’d go and see your local spiritual worker to get something to bring your luck running back. People were always coming to my mentor Earl Marlowe and I with luck issues… all back in the day.

We were operating out of Tottenham and Stoke Newington in North London. People came to us for everything. Some would be troubled by spirits too. It was stuff the everyday people had no idea about - those in the affluent suburbs. But we were on the ground with the real people.

Also, back in the day, my mentor Earl Marlowe and I would play live in London a lot…

If you listen to the above jam, that’s what it sounded like. But Earl was from Trinidad and had a different kind of voice to me. More tuneful actually! Haha.

It was nearly always just him and me. The “bass drum” sound would be he and I tapping our feet on the state - it’s what you hear above… sounds like a bass drum. Never thought about it. But when you get into it, it’s a heavy sound - wonder my foot doesn’t good through the floorboards.

Mostly Earl and I made songs up on the spot. We just did it. Same with the above track, I just started playing and made it up there and then. A lot of the old bluesmen did that back in the 1920s and 30s. They’d play the juke joints in the American South and their sets were for hours on end. Mostly they’d make stuff up - and, of course, very heavy foot tapping as that was the “dance beat.”

Oh, and I must tell you, we’re taking a new approach to our spiritual help…

All the old stuff will be on the website. We’ve always looked at people’s situations and them as an individual… none of it is boilerplate workings. It’s always tailored. It was back in the day with me and Earl… I was his apprentice… Now Dark Angel is mine. So we’re following the old tradition.

Anyway, our main concern is to make sure what we do fits everybody’s pocket book. Below is just the beginning. Haven’t sorted it yet. But thought I’d run it past you all to see what you think. The idea is three packages - you choose. We then get you to fill out our questionnaire and we talk to you to get our workings dead right, fitted to you.

Have a word with Dark Angel. You won’t know this, but she’s done a lot of mediumship… Not because she wants to. She doesn’t, half the time. But she’s gifted. And when people ask, like about contacting a loved one that’s passed on… well, she can’t say no.

I’ve been there and seen her do it. It’s quite a thing.

When I say she doesn’t want to do it, it’s more that she needs to accept her gift. She’s just a bit uncomfortable about it - despite having done it since she was a girl.
