For me personally, if the job needs to be done fast, I get on with it and conduct a ritual. No preparation. No paraphernalia. Just picturing the elements in turn - earth, air, water, fire - as living, moving things; earth a muddy ditch, air the swirling of leaves, and so on, around me.
Then I get to connecting with a given demon fitted to the purpose. Reciting its name (inwardly) and breathing intent-laden breath into the sigil.
In other words, “needs must when the Devil drives”.
Just get to it.
Generally I’m not big on paraphernalia anyway. Mine is very much “empty-hand magick”. In my view, all anyone needs is within themselves. Things like candles and talismans, if anything, bolster the will. If you’ve got will in abundance by default, and can harness the power of the “belief engine” when needed, you can go with empty-handed magick.
That said, I do personally favor going to ancient sites like Bronze Age mounds to conduct rituals. The archaic atmosphere brings me inspiration and verve - and quite likely evokes chthonic (earth/underworld) energies. Thus empowering the ritual.
One of my favorite anecdotes concerning demon calling involves Dark Angel…
I encouraged her to invoke Duke Bune (or “Bime”) from the Ars Goetia and other old grimoires. She followed my lead, and Bune made a tangible appearence - a figure dressed in 18th century patrician clothing. She also got an intense taste of charcoal in her mouth, which was strong to the point of nausea.
The upshot of it was somebody passing in their car noticed a stack of wooden poles left discarded on the land. They were keen to buy them. She gave a price and they paid in cash, saying they’d pick them up in a few days. They never did. But returned a month or so later and bought them again, this time taking them away.
The reason Dark Angel didn’t say he’d already bought them was simply to go with the magick; not standing in its way. And besides, if somebody wants to pay twice, let them do it.
As to me there are numerous examples of demon calling that brought surprising results…
For example, when I moved to a different region, I needed a mechanic for my car - to get it through MOTs and do repairs, and so on.
I could have found a local garage, but I wanted somebody independent who I got on with, as that’s what I’ve always been used to. I asked around; no joy. Eventually I called upon one the the Goetia demons to bring a mechanic my way.
A few days later I went outside to the street and saw a chap under the bonnet of a neighbour’s car. Turned out he was a self-employed mechanic, and an extremely gifted one at that. This was four years ago and he’s still sorting out my car now - and finds new cars for me at very good prices, like the Mercedes Benz V6 sports car I’ve got now.
The only downside with the Benz is the Road Tax is through the roof and into the statosphere. That’s the government for you. Maybe I should do some demon calling on them!
