šŸ About Doktor Snake (Jimmy Lee Shreeve)

I’ve spent most of my life wandering around the edges of things.

Officially, I’m an author and journalist. My work has appeared in The Independent, Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph, Financial Times, and other publications. I’ve written books for Random House, St Martin’s Press, Orion, and John Blake.

Unofficially, I’ve spent decades investigating stranger territory.

Consciousness. Dreams. Folklore. Coincidences. AI. UFOs. The paranormal. Human perception. Ancient places. Modern myths. The curious machinery of belief.

I’ve never been especially interested in collecting answers.

I’ve always preferred collecting questions.

This publication is where I share my field notes.

Some posts begin on a country lane in Suffolk. Others start in a cafƩ, an old churchyard, a Bronze Age mound, a train station, a dream, a book, or a conversation that refuses to leave me alone.

Along the way we’ll encounter:

  • Conscious awareness and self-observation

  • AI and the future of mind

  • Folklore, myth, and strange history

  • UFOs, anomalies, and Forteana

  • Psychogeography and place

  • Pattern recognition and decision-making

  • The hidden assumptions that shape reality

I don’t claim to possess secret wisdom.

But I have spent forty years writing, several decades experimenting, and a lifetime paying attention.

These are my notes from the frontier.

Welcome aboard.
