Okay here's a wild theory just throwing it out there but could it be possible that the myths of werewolves and vampires came from the oh so distant memory of the war between neanderthals and cro-magnons in our prehistoric past?

Fantastic article, cheers.

That's a very good idea there. One Italian academic, Carlo Ginzberg, contends that the words werewolf and vampire denoted types of shaman. His books are very good, but really hard to read, dense and enormously academic. Books, among others, are: "Ecstasies: Deciphering the Witches' Sabbath" and "Night Battles."

But one wonders about your idea. Maybe that one line blows Carlo Ginzberg off the stage! Haha.

You could see the Neanderthals as werewolves, and the cro-magons as vampires. Although could be the other way around. Neanderthals were more likely to have been unusual compared to cro-magons, that supposedly led to Homo Sapiens. I believe the Neanderthals followed the moon cycles and perhaps were more matriarchal - vampire queen!
